Types of Tourists Who Visit South Korea

South Korea is a popular tourist destination. There are several attractions that appeal to tourists to visit South Korea. Therefore, tourists who visit South Korea can be classified into three categories: Kpop and Kdrama lovers, history and culture lovers, and food travelers.


K-pop and K-drama are very popular forms of entertainment in many countries, especially among young people. Many international fans visit South Korea to meet their idols. For example, they may watch concerts, attend fan meetings, buy merchandise at official stores, or visit their idols’ filming locations. Even though they sometimes cannot meet their idols face-to-face, they still feel happy because they can visit their idols’ country. Therefore, international K-pop and K-drama fans visit South Korea either to meet their idols or simply to enjoy the environment and atmosphere of their idols’ country.


South Korea has very interesting history and culture, so many tourists visit the country to learn about its past. The Joseon Dynasty is one of the most famous periods in Korean history. Tourists often visit traditional palaces, historical sites, and try traditional clothing such as the hanbok. Not only does the history attract tourists, but the culture of South Korea is also very well known. For example, traditions such as bowing, eating and drinking together, and other cultural manners are unique for visitors. Therefore, tourists visit South Korea because they are interested in both its history and culture.


Food in South Korea is very popular among all ages. There are many famous dishes in the country. For example, for spicy food there are tteokbokki, buldak, and kimchi jjigae. For fermented food, there are kimchi, gochujang, and doenjang. For fried dishes, there are twigim, dakgangjeong, and Korean fried chicken. South Korean cuisine attracts many food travelers because one dish often contains many unique ingredients. There are two popular places to visit for food lovers: street food stalls and traditional markets. Food travelers can taste not only modern Korean dishes, but also traditional ones.

In conclusion, South Korea attracts various types of tourists because of it's entertainment industry, history and culture, and diverse cuisine. These attractions make South Korea a destination that offers something specials for every type of travelers.
